Tutorial: Changing Fractions To Decimals

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Today I will teach you all how to change Fractions into decimals.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first thing we need is a fraction, of course. I'll start of with a simple one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ 1 }{ 2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To turn the fraction above into a decimal you must do the following: \[1 \div 2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

After you solve the equation you'd see that: \[1\div2= 0.5\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And that's your answer! \[\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }=0.50\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That was pretty simple wasn't it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, whenever you are asked to change a decimal into a fraction simply just: \[Divide~the~numerator~and~the~denominator\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let's do another one!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ 55}{ 100}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Woah, that's a big fraction right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Still, we do the same thing as the first fraction, nothing different. \[Divide~The~Numerator~and~the~Denominator\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[55\div100\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Once you solve that you get:\[55\div100=0.55\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Therefore, \[\frac{ 55 }{ 100 }=0.55\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I hope after reading this, you will be able to change fractions to decimals!
