4•e^x=17

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

divide by 4 on both sides hit both sides with a natural long.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is natural long

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

it is the \(\Large\color{black}{\ln}\) . have you seen that thing before?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But how do you do e

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Do you know that \(\Large\color{black}{\log_aa=1}\)? the \(\Large\color{black}{\ln}\) is same as, \(\Large\color{black}{\log_e}\) And when you divide by 4 on both sides, which gets you ^x=17/4 you hit both sides with ln, like this, \(\Large\color{black}{\ln (e^x)=\ln(17/4)}\) then apply the rule, \(\Large\color{black}{\ln (a^b)=b \ln(a)}\) and refer back to the first rule I posted.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 3.7

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

that is not a correct solution for x.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

can you show me what you have done, please?
