What is the equation of the line that is parallel to y = -3x -11 through (-6, 19)?

OpenStudy (m3ga-bit3):

@ganeshie8

OpenStudy (briensmarandache):

any line equation will work as long as the slops are the same

OpenStudy (briensmarandache):

sorry didnt read the whole thing

OpenStudy (briensmarandache):

so -3 is your slope, you just plug -3 and the coordinate in to y=mx+b and solve for b

OpenStudy (briensmarandache):

the you use the m and be value in the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea use the m and be the value of the equation

OpenStudy (briensmarandache):

19=-3(-6)+b so this is what your solving, get it? because the slopes are the same, it sis parallel, because we use the point to solve for "b" we know that that point fall on the line because it is a solution for the line.
