Given f(x)=2x^2+2x and g(x)=x+1, find the function (f/g)(x).

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

divide

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

2x(x+1)/(x+1) = 2x

Thanks, I understand that. How could I find the excluded value?

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

as denominator is x+1 => x can never be -1 cos at x=-1 the f/g becomes infinitty, so ans is x belongs to R-{-1}... always put denominator = 0 and find all x's forr which function becomes infinity...

So x=-1 would be the excluded value? @princeharryyy

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

yes

Thanks!!
