is the expression 4x^3-3.6x^2-sqrt2 a polynomial

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, with respect to \(x\) is is a polynomial because it only has natural number exponents.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@domingo is that a whole root your saying is towards the end?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If its a whole root, then the answer is no. Cause a polynomial should have whole no.s as powers and not fractions :-)

Directrix (directrix):

P(x) = 4x^3 - 3.6x^2 - sqrt2 has real numbers as coefficients and the powers of x are whole numbers. So, yes, it is a polynomial.
