A student scored 78 and 92 on his first two quizzes. Use a compound inequality to find the possible values for a third quiz score that would give him an average between 80 and 85, inclusive. (1 point) 78<=x<=92 75<=x<=85 70<=x<=85 ******************* 80<=x<=85

@iambatman @iGreen @Abhisar @M_A @Jhannybean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mhm, so how did you get that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[80 \le \text{avg} \le 85\] find the average

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have 3 quizzes, how do you find average normally?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

80 and 85

OpenStudy (uri):

Are you really getting Iphone 6 plus......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just listent to iambatman u need avarage avg is between 80&85

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes in jan . cause my contacts ends :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, so once again, how do you find the average. hint: This is where the x comes from.

OpenStudy (uri):

Maybe he doesn't know how to.. @iambatman

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u sure its D?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I never said it was D, you're not listening to me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am listening . i guess when u ask me how i get that . i mean I'm not to sure how to answer that. i wrote it out and yea lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

he has 3queezzes the AVG of those between 80&85 OK? do u understand why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We know it's between \[80 \le \text{average} \le 85\] as it says in your problem, so we need to find the `average` which is \[\frac{ 78+92+x }{ 3 }\] now plug that into the compound inequality and solve for x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

exactly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

70<=x<=85

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, so your guess what right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm right I'm right I'm right I'm right !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@iambatman

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@M_A IM RIGHT

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes U are just uncertain about your answer u shouldnt doubt

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well thanks i thought/knew iwas right i just want to know for sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, it's right, and I hope you understood the process.

OpenStudy (anonymous):
