Solve the given system, using the substitution method. y = 3x – 4 9x – 3y = 14 A. There is no solution. B. (12, 14) C. (14, 12) D. There are an infinite number of solutions. help pleasee :)

OpenStudy (triciaal):

to use the substitution method use the expression for one variable from the first equation into the second equation and then solve for the one variable in your new equation. with this value put in expression to get the actual value. for this problem equation 1 you have y = replace y in the second equation with this expression 9x - 3(3x - 4) = 14 solve for x put this value of x in y = 3x - 4 to get the value of y

i still dont get it.... @triciaal

OpenStudy (triciaal):

when you substitute you replace for example if y = 3x and x = 2 then y = 3 times 2 because you replace the x with 2 do you see that ?

sort of @triciaal

OpenStudy (triciaal):

you don't need to put "@triciaal" anyway its the same principle the first equation has y = an expression then in the 2nd equation where you have y you replace y with the expression

this is so confusing
