Celina is buying fabric scraps to make koozies for her glasses. Each glass is cylindrical with a diameter of 3 inches and a height of 6 inches. The koozies will cover only the sides of the glasses. What is the amount of fabric she will use? What does this amount represent? Use three point one four for pi. Show your work.

Before she sews the two ends together, the koozie is going to be in the shape of a rectangle. We are given one dimension of the rectangle (6 in.). But how do we find the other dimension of the rectangle? Well if we had a glass with a diameter of 3 inches we could measure it using the technique shown in the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUvR8HerNcQ Or we could recognize that the the other dimension of the rectangle is just the circumference of the glass. So now all you have to do is calculate the circumference of the glass and multiply it by 6 inches to find the amount of material (area) needed for one glass.
