help please... solve for 5(x+1)^2+4(x+1)-10

OpenStudy (tanner23456):

um, I don't know if you have typed that incorrectly but you can't solve for x. you can only simplify that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

evaluate the function*

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

To solve as an equation, it needs an equal sign. To evaluate, you need to supply an x value.

OpenStudy (tanner23456):

The only thing we can do with it in this state is simplify it so the first thing I would do is take care of the exponents (x+1)^2 = x^2+2x+1 distribute the 5 in (5x^2 + 10x + 5) + 4(x+1) -10 distribut the 4 5x^2 + 10x + 5 + 4x + 4 - 10 simplify 5x^2 +14x -1

thank you so much

find inverse f(x) = ((3x)/(x − 6))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find inverse f(x) = 3x/(x-6)

OpenStudy (tanner23456):

y = 3x/(x-6) switch the x and the y around x = 3y/(y-6) Solve for y
