8. Which of the following is not a convergent boundary? A. Oceanic-oceanic B. Continental-volcanic C. Continental-continental D. Oceanic-continental

OpenStudy (abhisar):

According to wikipedia Convergent boundaries are areas where plates move toward each other and collide. These are also known as compressional or destructive boundaries. See this for your answer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convergent_boundary

I think I know the answer, I just wanted to double check. Thanks!

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Ok, so what do you think should be the correct option?

JoelTheBoss (joel_the_boss):

According to what @Abhisar said you could already eliminate two possible choices, C and D. That's leaves us with A and B. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/29/Active_Margin.svg/2000px-Active_Margin.svg.png If you look at this picture you can see that the volcanic ark is connected to the continental crust, so there is no destructive force going on between the two which would make B your answer. When two Oceanic crust collide you get a trench which are like bottomless pit's. There is a bottom but no human can ever get there without being squashed like a bug. :)
