help please (explain it to me)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which function below has the smallest slope? f(x) f(x) = 5x - 4 g(x) graph going through (0, 1) and (2, 5) h(x) x h(x) 1 14 4 15 7 16 f(x) g(x) h(x) The functions all have the same slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ganeshie8 @phi ?

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

please note that: slope of f(x) = 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i know that because i remember the y = mx + b and the m is the slope and the 5 is m

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and i know the g(x) slope is 2 right?

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

ok! now slope of g(x) is: \[m=\frac{ y _{2}-y _{1} }{ x _{2} -x _{1}}\] inserting coordinates of your points, we have: \[m=\frac{ 5-1 }{ 2-0 }=2\]

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

again, slope of h(x), is, applying the same formula above: \[m=\frac{ 15-14 }{ 4-1 }=\frac{ 1 }{ 3 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so i got that right but i guess idk the answer because idk the slope of h(X) h(x) x h(x) 1 14 4 15 7 16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the smallest slope is h(x)? sine it's 1/3 and the others are whole numbers

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

yes! so c., namely the third option

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much can i tag you on other question if i have some?

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

yes! sure!

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

np and thank you!
