Help , Medal & Fan!(: . Write the equation of a line that is parallel to the line shown above.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y = 3x + 1 Parallel lines have OPPOSITE slopes, so what's the opposite of 3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3 is the same as 3/1 So flip it around and make it negative.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you do that? @thatonechick1

OpenStudy (ganpat):

yeah.. Parallel should have same slope and perpendicular has negative slope.. :p

OpenStudy (swamijatin2):

by using the formula y = mx+c we get the slope of this equation the slope of the parallel lines are equal by using the cordintes of the other line u get the equation of the riquired line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so basically all I have to do is flip it around ?

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

Sorry for deleting the post. Yeah, parallel lines have the same slope, but my post was irrelevant otherwise. ; ; Perpendicular lines have NEGATIVE RECIPROCAL slopes, @Ganpat xD (They do, right? D:)

OpenStudy (swamijatin2):

use one cordinate ( 1,4) then put in the equation of y-y1= m(x-x1) use this equation and see......
