Solve the inequality: (x - 1)(x - 4) < 0.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=1 and x=4 is the values that give you 0; |dw:1418883296551:dw|

Do you mind explaining that in terms of words instead of that scrambled graph? o.o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How did you get to that is what I need to know, not just the answer, id like to be able to do this on my own.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the interval that give you 1<x<4 ; if x>4 then you get positive bigger than 0 answer and this not good; if x<1 also give positive bigger than 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first you get the 0's points

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what this mean , you find when the equation is zero; x=1 and x=4;

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I kind of feel stupid for this because that was simple.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

draw the axis of 'x' and put the x=1 and x=4; then you have 3 interval x<1 and 1<x<4 and x>4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you take from every interval value and substitute in t he inequality you see what of these interval is correct you choose it
