You are creating a public service announcement warning kids about the danger of posting personal information on the Internet. Describe how you might use each of the three types of appeals to get your message across.

@arabpride
We're talking about the 'logos', 'pathos', and 'ethos' appeals right? c:
yes
Alrighty, step by step, we know that 'pathos' appeals to emotions, so what words or phrases could you include in a few sentences that might make your audience "scared" or rather "aware" of the situation? :3
um...the personal information that has been posted "could spread"
Oh my... i read the directions wrong.. so they're not asking you to USE each of the appeals, but HOW you would.. sorry.. okay~
oh..i didnt understand the question anyways
lolz - Alright.. just give me a sec, k? :3
ok
For pathos, you want to give an "emotional" appeal to convince. So you'd need your audience's sympathy and understanding. You could use vivid words and describe your emotions very clearly to gain the audience's sympathy. Or you could bring someone with an interesting story related to the topic to further support your point of view. Something like: "Soon after my friend became involved in social networking, she regretted it immediately. She hadn't known it would cause the terrible effects that it left her with. For weeks, she was worried, scared, and terrified." Convincing your audience that there are negative emotional results that come with giving off too much personal information online, will give you a 'pathos' appeal.
Aww dangit!! I had written one for "ethos" :/ didn't save it >.< it's okay though~
aww really??
Yeah, but it's fine :3 ill do it again~
sorry to put u through this :/
It's fine c: I don't mind *^-^
For 'ethos' you want to give an "ethical" appeal to convince your audience. You have to be a credible and trusted speaker to give an ethical appeal, so using a confident and wise tone enhances it. You could show your audience how credible you are by proving that you understand the topic and can even relate to it. So you could say: "I've repeatedly seen the long-term negative effects of young children who have made the mistake of giving too much of their personal information on the internet. They think that it's a normal thing to do, that's IF they actually consider if it could lead them to something bad. Because 'posting personal information on the internet' is a simple danger in a mask." Giving proof that this is a topic you can cover and understand well gives you the credible, 'ethos' appeal.
ok thanks, now I need logos
For 'logos' you want to use a "logical" appeal in order to convince your audience. You must have reason and logic to deliver this appeal effectively and to prove your point to the audience. You have to be concise with your language, logical with your claim, and effective at delivering evidence for that claim. You could use facts and statistics to support the claim. For example: "Studies have shown that --% of young children that use the internet leave too much personal information on there. As a result, negative effects such as tracking, computer viruses, and luring children occur." You must give an explicit reason in making your argument and be confident about giving in you point of view, because you're being supported by facts.
thanks sooooo much, your a huge help xD
Hehe No Problem *^-^ Glad I can be of assistance :3
