A rectangle ABCD has AB = 9.6 cm and BC = 6 cm. What is AB, if ABCD is reduced to A'B'C'D' with scale factor 0.5?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Linear measure scales directly. Just multiply by the scaling factor. Next time, show your work or at least discuss your possible work.

thank you sorry :/

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

No worries. We're all in this together. Just learning.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so I multiply every number by the scale factor?, because someone tried to explain this to me and that what they said to do but I got it wrong. @tkhunny

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I figured it out i just have to multiply AB by 0.5

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

You must read carefully. If your scale factor is for linear measure and all the parts are linear measure (length, but not area or volume), then simple multiplication should do the trick.

thank you for the help.
