OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or at least the question he didn't answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you help with a different one though??

OpenStudy (animeasgardian):

Ok what is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mickey bought 3 books from the bargain bin at his school's book fair and paid nine dollars. If buying books from the bargain bin follows a direct variation, how much did his sister pay for the 4 books she bought? seven dollars ten dollars twelve dollars sixteen dollars

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it is 12 but i am not sure

OpenStudy (animeasgardian):

I think it's 16

OpenStudy (animeasgardian):

What does direct variation mean?

OpenStudy (animeasgardian):

I'm assuming that because for 3 books he paid 9 (3x3) then for 4 books she will pay 16 (4x4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Direct variation is A relationship between two variables in which one is a constant multiple of the other. In particular, when one variable changes the other changes in proportion to the first.

OpenStudy (animeasgardian):

Yeah I think it's 16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But that makes sense for 16 though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you

OpenStudy (animeasgardian):

You're welcome :D
