undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

Which sentence from the passage is written in passive voice? "Somehow, the turtle knew right where to go!" "However, blood tests revealed the turtle had a bacterial infection in its bloodstream." "Over the years, many turtles have been rescued by the Turtle Hospital." "Hospital staff at the Turtle Hospital thought the turtle was just lost."

OpenStudy (bohotness):

a

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

Are you sure?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

passive voice is like "was done" "being performed" active voice "I am playing" "He forgot his ball."

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I am sure A is wrong.

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

I thought it was D.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Oh crap I suck

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

it is asking for passive voice, not for passive verb sorry y'all.

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

So its A?

OpenStudy (bohotness):

so i was right?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I looked up to refresh my mind. Basically. A subject of a sentence referring to a passive verb. = passive voice.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

the subject in the first sentence, A, is a turtle, and it "knew" so the object is referred to with an active verb. So I think it is not A.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Yes, D seems correct. the turtle is the object, (don't confuse with the hospital staff, they aren't the object) and it is referred with a verb "lost".

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

you might want to be confident about this one though, because I am not very good at English.

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

It was C ._.

OpenStudy (bohotness):

sorry

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

darn it. sorry

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

ohh, the turtles have been rescued. "have been rescued" saying, by someone else, and this means it is a passive verb. it refers to the subject, to the turtles. sorry
