\(y - y_1 = m(x - x_1)\) Where y1 is the y-value, x1 is the x-value, and m is the slope.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So just replace y1 with -4, x1 with 8, and m with -5/6. What do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, but look: \(y - y_1\) Plug in -4: \(y - (-4)\) Multiply -1 into the parenthesis, -1 * -4 = 4. \(y + 4\) Get it?:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh right i forgot okay so, y+4= 8(x - -5/6)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what's your answer going to be? @AMYCARTER

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that equation is not one of the answer choices though @iGreen.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's just part of it..and you did it wrong..-5/6 doesn't go there it goes in the middle..and 8 goes over there.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah that's what i was just going to say thank you @iGreen.

No problem.
