Okay, a predicate nominative is a noun or pronoun that follows a linking verb and identifies, renames, or explains the subject.
Would you like an example of a predicate nominative being used in a sentence?
sure
oh wait not wat i was tryin to post
In the following sentence the predicate nominative (p.n.) is pet. The cat has become America's favorite pet. This is because the word pet restates the subject of the sentence, which is the word cat. :) Do you understand?
yes thank you so much
Here is another example: Two common house cats are the manx and the Burmese. In the sentence stated above, the predicate nominatives are manx and Burmese, because they restate the word cats. :) It's really simple when you think about it!
ok thnk u lol yur smart i neede that as well lol now time to work out gotta keep my pecs musclede
And you are welcome! I don't like to see other students struggling, so it was my pleasure! :D @karliallheart55
A predicate nominative is a person, place, or substitute. Substitute = a person or thing acting or serving in place of another.
