can anyone help me please... A small sinkhole has formed close a heavily travelled street. The city plans to fence it in to keep citizens from putting themselves in danger. What is the perimeter of a triangular-shaped fence the city can place around the sinkhole using integer coordinates (no decimals) on the grid? You must show all work to receive credit.

no
looks like its 2 point along the line y = -4 and they will have to be a distance apart which will allow the other sides of the triangle to be drawn to a point with integer values
no what?
okay so how i would i do that?
well trial and error really i guess one point on the left could be (-4,-11)
a line from (-4.-10) would not pass the hole
okay im extremely confused and i have no idea what to do... im sorry would you mind explaining to me how to find the perimeter of the shaped fence?
have you got a hard copy of the drawing - it would be easy then
i have a hard copy just dont know how to solve the problem and this is the last question on my quiz
well draw the triangle on the hard copy you can then find the perimeter by using the formula for the distance between 2 coordinates
if the coordinates are (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) the distance is sqrt [(x2-x1)^2 + (y2-y1)^2]
and how many times would i have to do that
do this for the 3 lines of the triangle then add them
draw 2 lines from the horizontal line diagonally across the squares and they will meeat at a point with integer coordinates
im sorry i understand what youre saying, i some how screwed this up and now im lost to the point where i dont even know what im doing wrong
all i can say is take a short break if you can and go back to it later. i thaink the 2 bottom point of your triangle will be (-11,-4) and (-4,0)
this is timed so im kinda stuck :(
sorry i made a mistake with the coordinates in my previous posts. The x coordinate comes first and the y second. Its (-11,-4) not (-4,-1)
and (0,-4) not (-4,0)
oh okay
- you need not work out the length between these because you can just count the squares the length = 11
i must be tired im making mistakes all the time these are the correct coordinates (-11, -4) meaning x = -11 and y = -4 (0 , -4) meaning x = 0 , y = -4 and distance between is 11
so how would i do it step by step to show to get credit
well summarize what you have done state the coordinates of the 3 points of the triangle and work out the perimeter
obviously you will also submit the drawing
lol but thats the thing.. i dont remember how to do that.. this is 10th grade math and i havent learned this since last year.. and my teacher is on break
all you have to do is to write out what i've explained
@cwrw238 im so lost can u please help me bc im doing the work and it makes no sense
