Could you please help me with this problem? @nikato

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just post the question so other people can help you :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

@SolomonZelman

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know option B is incorrect because it =92 , not 90 .

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yeah, im not that prone to these 2 column geo proffs. simply because i dont recall names of things to properly set them up i spose.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, no worries. Let's just hope @ganeshie8 joins us! :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

5 seems to not be reading well for me .... can you verify?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

lol, fine, statement 5 yada yada ....

OpenStudy (amistre64):

xob is fine, xoa seems off

OpenStudy (amistre64):

how would you determine the measure of the angles in 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64 I believe the reason for 5 is incorrect, it is not 180.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

all the options say 5 is incorrect, trying to determine why it is wrong is our objective from my knowing simply how to solve for the angles, i see that they solved the xoa incorrectly. it should have been quite similar to their setup for xob.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

180 - 2(23)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, that is correct. Does that mean that her reason for 5 is correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@lilia222 The value of XOA is correct, but for the reason given, the calculation is incorrect. As @amistre64 pointed out, it should be along the same lines as XOB. Sum of angles of a triangle should read (180-23-23), or for isosceles triangles, one \(could \) write equivalently 2(90-23), but writing 90+44 is pushing it, even the result is the same. I see the rest of the proof reasonable.

OpenStudy (nikato):

Yea. It should be written the same way as XOB. Which would be 180-2x23=134 Also you can easily eliminate the other choices because they have 90 Which has NOTHING to do with "sum of interior angles is 180"
