I'm sure you know what goes in statement #2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is statment 2 SV || TU

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes because that's also given to you

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

they made a mistake when it comes to making up this table one of the statements should be ST || VU because a parallelogram is a 4 sided figure with opposite sides that are parallel. So if you can show ST || VU is true, then you can use that along with SV || TU to say VUTS is a parallelogram but I don't see how to fit ST || VU on statement 3 because you need a statement before that saying how angle TUS = angle VSU and then you use the converse of the alternate interior angle theorem to show ST || VU is true In short, there's not enough lines to do a proper proof here

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I think 2 more lines are needed

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Then again, I guess you could use the rule given here http://www.regentsprep.org/regents/math/geometry/gp9/lparallelogram.htm "Combo: If ONE PAIR of opposite sides of a quadrilateral are BOTH parallel and congruent, the quadrilateral is a parallelogram" but may not be what your teacher wants

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im confused

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yeah same here since it seems like there isn't enough room

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

and that I don't know what your teacher is looking for

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

it would be handy if your teacher gave you a list of theorems

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know right

OpenStudy (danjs):

my best guess

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know 7 or 8

OpenStudy (danjs):

3)Diagonals Bisect 7)Corresponding parts of congruent triangles are congruent. SX =XT and VX=XU 8)If the diagonals of a quadrilateral bisect each other, the quadrilateral is a parallelogram.

OpenStudy (danjs):

Right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you sooooo much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@DanJS would 7 also be considered SAS?

OpenStudy (danjs):

Side angle side?

OpenStudy (danjs):

In the givens, they tell you that the two triangles are congruent. SAS is used in proving congruent triangles.
