Equilateral triangles have 3 congruent sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its false

Directrix (directrix):

Look on the chart I posted (Classifying Triangles). How many sides do isosceles triangle have as congruent.

Directrix (directrix):

The question comes down to this: If 3 sides are congruent, are at least 2 sides congruent?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isos

Directrix (directrix):

Is that a yes or no? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

Directrix (directrix):

Okay. So, a triangle with 3 congruent sides also has two congruent sides and is isosceles. True on that. But, the converse is not true. If a triangle is isosceles, then it is equilateral is not true. Because, at least 2 does not mean 3.
