OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

here is a very good link for restrictive clauses: http://www.grammar-monster.com/glossary/restrictive_clause.htm tell me what you think after you are doing going through it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it's either C or E

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

yeah, you have a hard time deciding, because they both, C and E, are referring to the subject, the child or the baby, throughout the entire sentence. but based on most of the examples in my link, it seems as though, that this candidate for being a restrictive clause must be like a connecting chain.... I am having trouble explaining what is in my head, but here it is: They put the baby, who was fast asleep, in his crib. ~~~~~~ ^^ is referring to where he was asleep. The child, who was now wailing, ran toward his mother. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ^^ is referring to the child

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

in option E, the two parts: ~ "who was now wailing" ~ "an toward his mother" are describing the action of the child, where as in C, the baby was asleep where? in his crib. So, it is like connecting the end and beginning of the sentence.
