Find the area of the parallelogram http://static.k12.com/eli/bb/811/7537/0/2_36627_44211/7537/82f838899777dd887ab22867743c16071a3c95d3/media/b1810682da2c01be92547b39d4f0a678e8eb3ef3/mediaasset_649598_1.gif

OpenStudy (igreen):

Isn't the area just base * height?

Directrix (directrix):

Area of Parallelogram = bh The height shown is drawn to the 32 side, that is, an extension of it. A = 32 * 12 = ?

Directrix (directrix):

@loomely

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it is 384 ?

OpenStudy (igreen):

Yep..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you !

Directrix (directrix):

You are welcome, @loomely

There might have been a misunderstanding of the figure. |dw:1420215108062:dw| Use Pythagoras to find h. \(12^2+h^2=20^2\) Area = base * h where base=32. @loomely @Directrix

Directrix (directrix):

@iGreen

OpenStudy (igreen):

I thought we did something wrong.

OpenStudy (igreen):

Yeah..I didn't see the height given on the figure at all..

OpenStudy (igreen):

Thanks for explaining. @mathmate Too bad it's too late :c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OH... okay thank you anyway

OpenStudy (mathmate):

no problem! :)

OpenStudy (igreen):

Yes..using the Pythagorean Theorem will help you find the height..then you can multiply that height by the base.
