Which step should be completed first to solve the equation ? A. Add 14 to both sides. B. Divide both sides by 3. C. Divide both sides by −3. D. Subtract 9 from both sides.
@hartnn
what's the equation?
oh sorry
9-3q=14
any ideas?
i think it is b but im not for sure
So the equation is \(9 - 3q = 14?\) @pielover123
yea @AMQ
b is not the first step. we're gonna do the opposite of PEMDAS. so SADMEP. you wanna do the opposite operation
Ok, so it is subtracting, so we'll have to do the inverse, or opposite.
So what is the opposite of subtracting?
adding
so since 9 is positive, you're going to subtract 9 from both sides.
Yes, so what would you add 9 to?
What? @AriPotta
the answer is d.
oh i see now
@AriPotta It is subtracting, so we will have to do the inverse...
adding 9 isn't even an option
9 is not being subtracted. 9 is a positive number, so you subtract 9
Hmm, that's weird. Whatever, I guess D is right.
@AriPotta could you help me with 2 more??
yes
ok thanks
o.O
What is the solution to the equation 1/3(9x-9)=2x+3 ? x=
@AriPotta You're not supposed to just throw out the answer..
i didn't.
@iGreen but did you see the work before that
I am sorry we are keeping you for getting free direct answers. @pielover123
Same thing if you work and then give the answer.
@pielover123 We are not here to give answers at all, we are here to GUIDE you to the answer so that you get it on your own.
Lolololol
stop.
Stop giving direct answers please.
it wasn't a direct answer. you're not even involved in this.
Actually, it was.
I am involved in every single rule broken according to OS rules.
If I am present when the answer is directly given, I am to not to do nothing about it.
@AriPotta It looked like you were doing fine until you just threw out the answer out of no where.
The asker should have participation in the steps involved in solving that problem.
@Abhisar We have a bit of a problem here, Sir.
i didn't throw it out of nowhere. i said you have to subtract 9 to both sides first because it's the opposite operation. look at choice d. D. Subtract 9 from both sides. how was me saying "the answer is d." come out of nowhere?
AMQ was leading the asker to the wrong answer. i clarified to say the answer was choice d before the asker got totally confused
Yes, but once you say "you have to subtract 9 to both sides first because it's the opposite operation" You can say "Do you know what the answer is now?"
@AMQ And please do not help people unless you know for sure what the answer is...otherwise leave it to other people to help.
Why don't you go away?
You don't help people at all.
there's worse people on this site doing worse things than me. i've been on this site for 2+ years. i know the code of conduct. i know i've broken it before, but this is not one of those times. how about you jump on someone else who actually did something wrong
@AMQ If you actually went to my answered questions, you could prove your point. Otherwise, you have no point whatsoever. @AriPotta I always 'jump' on people that do exactly what you do. I've been doing that since last year. And how can you say what you did wasn't wrong ?
And what do you mean "this is not one of those times" ?
i meant "this not a time where i've broken the CoC"
If this is not a time where you haven't broken the CoC, that means it's not bad for anyone to give direct answers. Is this what you're saying ?
@101 If you think someone has breached the rule please use the report button. Do not engage in a debate over with anyone for that. Moderators are their to judge issues. I hope you realise that this post was intended to help the asker over his original question and by debating over rule issues you are just spamming the post.
@Abhisar But if I see someone giving a direct answer, don't I have to talk to them concerning what they did to break the CoC ?
@101 Just stop -.- You're going too far.
This is very helpful to me because people will most of the time stop when I regard them of this.
@iGreen I would say that you attacking people and making them very angry is 'going too far'.
You can do that on personal messages.
I will keep that in mind next time. :) @Abhisar
