OpenStudy (mathmate):

\(Simile\): a figure of speech involving the comparison of one thing with another thing of a different kind, used to make a description more emphatic or vivid (e.g., as brave as a lion, crazy like a fox ) \(Alliteration\) is a stylistic literary device identified by the repeated sound of the first consonant in a series of multiple words, or the repetition of the same sounds or of the same kinds of sounds at the beginning of words or in stressed syllables of a phrase. \(Onomatopoeia\):the formation of a word, as cuckoo, meow, honk, or boom, by imitation of a sound made by or associated with its referent. \(Allusion\) is a figure of speech, in which one refers covertly or indirectly to an object or circumstance from an external context. It is left to the audience to make the connection; where the connection is detailed in depth by the author, an allusion is often called a reference.
