whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Do you know what a sentence fragment is?

OpenStudy (gelow):

or a phrase or clause written as a sentence but lacking an element, as a subject or verb, that would enable it to function as an independent sentence in normative written English.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

True, but the main way to identify a sentence fragment is to deduce wether there is enough information provided. \(\bf\color{lime}{Sentence~fragments}\) are sentences of which \(\bf\color{red}{do~not}\) provide enough information. \(\bf\color{blueviolet}{Examples:}\) It skipped across the water, making soft splashes. (Ask, "what skipped across the water?") And we headed to the car after that fun event. (Who? What event? What happened first?)

OpenStudy (gelow):

ok

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Now, do you believe the sentence you are given includes enough details to make it a complete sentence?

OpenStudy (gelow):

yes

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Let's look closer: "To notice in what ways our old neighborhood has changed." What are they doing in order to notice these ways? Does it tell us?

OpenStudy (gelow):

ok

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Ok?

OpenStudy (gelow):

ok

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

I'm assuming you have found your answer? :p

OpenStudy (gelow):

i think no it dose not show us and sorry my computer keeps freezing

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

It's okay. :p So, with that, can we deduce that it is a sentence fragment?

OpenStudy (gelow):

yes i belive

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

That is \(\frak\color{lime}{correct!~\bigstar}\) Great work!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i had to go but... @gelow if something is off why would it be a COMPLETE SENTENCE.
