Examples of how scientist use repeated trials and replication in conducting experiments?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

seriously?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@piercethejessica

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you gonna help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tell me what you think the answer is then ill help u

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no idea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

r u kidding?!?!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No , I know a little bit about it but I just don't know an example

OpenStudy (anonymous):

think about any experiment any scientist conducts. 1) doing the experiment 2) publishing the experiment 3) having other scientist check his work 4) other scientists redoing his experiment 5) other scientists sending that scientist their data

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just don't get it , I speak spanish and i'm trying to understand it ( I live in the us now )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when a scientist does an experiment, other scientist have to redo the experiment to check if it is accurate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

get it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think so , thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you can use basically any experiment that has been published by a scientist and that will count

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm like what D:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

anything

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as long as it is real

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plants?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

look up on Google some published experiments and just quote the experiment

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

Say Scientist A performs an experiment on whether a certain plant can grow in a desert environment. He comes to the conclusion that in fact, this plant can grow in a desert environment due to the way it's roots grow. Scientist B performs the same experiment that Scientist A performs and gets the same result. This is an example :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks so much to both of you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like seriously , you just saved my life and my grades

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B has to preform the experiment or else scientist A cant get his experiment published

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

But repeated trials could also mean that Scientist A does the experiment multiple times, to see if he gets the same result.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A has to post his experimnt, other scientist have to redo and check his work

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

Yeah, exactly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks
