n/3-3=12

OpenStudy (redheadangel):

you can either multiply everything by 3 or...

OpenStudy (redheadangel):

and 3 to 12 and thenn...

OpenStudy (andrewhaze):

wouldn't n =12 b-cuz 3-3 =0

OpenStudy (redheadangel):

if you multiply then all you have left is n-3=12 so...

OpenStudy (redheadangel):

then you can subtract 3 from 12 which would be 9 so...

OpenStudy (redheadangel):

so N=9

OpenStudy (redheadangel):

(hold on i think i need to check my work)

OpenStudy (redheadangel):

JK!! omg its actually 21 SOOOORY!!

OpenStudy (redheadangel):

cause if you miltiply everything by 3 you are left with n-9=12, so when you add 12 to nine you get...

OpenStudy (redheadangel):

21!!

OpenStudy (redheadangel):

so sorry if i confused you at first, the CORRECT answer is 21

OpenStudy (lyrae):

You also have to multiply the right hand side of the equal sign. \[\frac{ n }{ 3 } - 3 = 12\]\[\frac{ n }{ 3 } - 3 + 3 = 12 + 3\] \[\frac{ n }{ 3 } = 15\]\[ 3 \times\frac{ n }{ 3 } = 3 \times 15\]\[ n = 45\]

OpenStudy (redheadangel):

OMG you're right, i should have written out the work before i said anything :[
