Okay, thanks so much for your kindness to help me. its only 4 questions though.
The mass of the Rock of Gibraltar is 1.78 ⋅ 1012 kilograms. The mass of the Antarctic iceberg is 4.55 ⋅ 1013 kilograms. Approximately how many more kilograms is the mass of the Antarctic iceberg than the mass of the Rock of Gibraltar? Show your work and write your answer in scientific notation.
first multiply both
after you multiply both subtract
1801.36
no multiply both seperately then subtract
Rock of Gibraltar, \(\large\color{slate}{ 1.78\times 10^{12} }\) kg Antarctic iceberg, \(\large\color{slate}{ 4.55\times 10^{13} }\) kg
4609.15
did you subtract yet?
what I would do is; \(\large\color{slate}{ ~~~~~~4.55\times 10^{13} }\) \(\large\color{slate}{ ^{^{\Huge-}}~ 1.78\times 10^{12} }\) \(\large\color{slate}{ ~~~~^{\text{_______________}} }\) rewrite: \(\large\color{slate}{ ~~~~~~45.50~~\times 10^{13} }\) \(\large\color{slate}{ ^{^{\Huge-}}~~~~ 1.78~\times 10^{12} }\) \(\large\color{slate}{ ~~~~^{\text{________}} }\)
oh I mean that when I re-write the 45.50 is times 10^12, not 10^13.
yeah ill let solo take it from here he can help :} bye
\(\large\color{slate}{ ~~~~~~45.50\times 10^{12} }\) \(\large\color{slate}{ ~~~^{^{\Huge-}}~ 1.78\times 10^{12} }\) \(\large\color{slate}{ ~~~~^{\text{_________}} }\)
See what I am doing?
yes
now, subtract them
43.72?
yes, but, \(\large\color{slate}{ ~~~~~~43.72\times 10^{12} }\)
and then re-writing it using a correct scientific notation: I get: \(\large\color{slate}{ ~~~~~~4.372\times 10^{13} }\)
i see it now! thanks a ton!
sure, yw!
