Suppose that many large samples were taken from population B, which is normally distributed, and population C which is not normally distributed. The means of the samples of which of the following populations would approximate a normal distribution? A. Population B B. Population C C. Neither population B nor population C D. Both population B and population C
hint: Use central limit theorem
ok, based on that I got that it would be population B because it is normally distributed
The Central Limit Theorem states that given a population and many samples containing n elements from that population, the distribution of the means of those samples is approximately normal when n approaches infinity. The underlying population does not have to be normally distributed to begin with
so does that mean that both would be included because they both contain a certain number of elements?
both samples are large, so therefore the distribution of the sample means will be normal
ok thanks, i got d
