\(\normalsize\color{royalblue}{ \rm independent~clause }\) is a phrase (part of the whole sentence) that can stand (makes sense) as a sentence on it's own. For example if I had: \(\normalsize\color{green}{ \rm I~didn't~attend~the~event,~because~my~boss~gave~me~an~extra~task~to~complete. }\) where, \(\normalsize\color{green}{ \rm I~didn't~attend~the~event. }\) is an \(\normalsize\color{royalblue}{ \rm independent~clause }\).
