can someone help me with a math problem please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y = -2x^2 + 2x +2 convert into vertex form is y = -2(x + 1/2)^2 + 5/2 , when x = 6 , y = -58 . y = -2x^2 + 2x + 2 y = -2(x + 1/2)^2 + 1/2 + 2 y = -2(x + 1/2)^2 + 5/2 when x = 6 y = -2*6^2 + 2*6 + 2 y = -72 + 14 y = -58

is this right ?

Let me check.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

y = -2x^2 + 2x + 2. If x = 6, we plug that in. y = -2(6)^2 + 2(6) + 2. y = -12^2 + 12 + 2. y = -144 + 12 + 2. y = -144 + 14. y = -130. - That's what I got.

ok umm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well let me double check

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

Well I suppose if you did the order of operations I guess you would be correct, but I'm pretty sure you would multiply 2x together first before messing with the exponent.
