Divide 64x^3 -27y^3 by 4x-3y A. 16x^2 -9y^2 B. 16x^2 +9y^2 C. 16x^2 -48x^2y +12xy -36xy^2 +9y^2 D. (4x-3y)^2 E. none of these
@DanJS
hey
hello :)
do you think you could help me with this one?
i'm leaning towards choice C?
hmm, i put it in my calculator and got \[16x^2 + 12xy +9y^2\]
none of those are that, the last one D. expands out to 16x^2 + 24xy + 9y^2
so D is the closest to being the correct choice? would a scientific calculator be the right calculator to use for these types of problems?
i have a ti-89, it has Computer algebra system in it. I think they want you to use long division, or factor the numerator first, then cancel the term (4x-3y). None of those are the answer
The numerator factors to \[\frac{ (4x-3y)*(16x^2 + 12xy + 9y^2) }{ (4x-3y) }\]
Then the 4x-3y cancels , you are left with the 16x^2+12xy+9y^2
