\(\large\color{slate}{ y = 3x - 4 }\) \(\large\color{slate}{ 9x - 3y = 14 }\) the first equation gives you that \(\large\color{blue}{ y }\) is same thing as \(\large\color{blue}{ 3x - 4 }\) , correct ?

OpenStudy (bossimbacon):

yus

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

so, that means that you can substitute \(\large\color{blue}{ 3x - 4 }\) instead of \(\large\color{blue}{ y }\) into the second equation.
