We are designing a lab and I chose a reaction that will change the temperature by the end. What are some good reactions that temperature change can be readily measured, and can be done in a lab setting? Please help. If not, color change reaction could be known better.
Ammonium nitrate in water, it is endothermic, and the reaction changes from room temperature and becomes colder as you add more (absorbs energy). On the other hand, calcium chloride in water begins to heat, as this reaction is exothermic, and releases energy into the system.
@abb0t Thank you! Anything with two non-H2O reactants though? I might need to propose that otherwise I wil use Ammonium NItrate.
There is phenylbromide and magnesium, also known as a gringard reaction, but that might be outside the scope of your chemistry course. I would stick with the basic inorganic type reactions.
