There is one of the questions

@dan815 Can you help?

The Elimination method is the method used to cancel out one variable so the problem becomes solvable. For instance you would first want to find which variable would be easier to eliminate, as for your problem, that would be x it would seem. Now due to how you have 2x and -2x we don't need to do the multiplying step, so let's simply go to the addition step: 2x + 3y = 11 + -2x + 9y = 1 Now adding 2x and -2x together negates the problem for it to be: 2x + -2x becomes 2x - 2x Due to how they are like terms, this cancels out x. Now simply add the others: 9y + 3y = 12y and 11 + 1 = 12 12y = 12 is what you are left with. Simply divide 12 by 12 to find y. y = 1 but before we continue, we must find x. Let's use the first equation: 2x + 3(1) = 11 ~ Now we can solve it. 2x + 3 = 11 2x + 3 - 3 = 11 - 3 2x = 8 2x / 2 = 8 / 2 x = 4 Verify by putting this point into each equation: 2(4) + 3(1) = 11 8 + 3 = 11 11 = 11 ~ Correct. -2(4) + 9(1) = 1 -8 + 9 = 1 ~Simply add or you can change it to this.~ 9 + -8 = 1 ~ Changes to: ~ 9 - 8 = 1 1 = 1 ~ Correct, therefore (4, 1) is your point. Does that make more sense? @lisa2345
