How to say"I am a 6th grader" in spanish

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yo soy un nino en grado seis

OpenStudy (one098):

Yo soy un nino en sexto grado. @poppygirl63 If they were saying "I am in grade 6" then you would say "Yo so un nino en grado seis. I am=Yo soy, a 6th grader=un nino en sexto grado.

Hello there! If I may join in: I agree with @One098 as regards the "6" and "6th" distinction! Good point indeed! One other thing, if I may add something: Don't you think it's more natural in Spanish to say: *Soy un alumno de sexto curso* ? If I may explain: (1) *soy* can only refer to *yo* ("I" in English), so it's best if we leave *yo* out. (2) Just from experience, in Spain people say *de sexto...* rather than *en sexto...* (3) As regards "grade": in fact, *grado* is correct :) So *curso* is just an alternative (more like the way people say it in Spain). Hope this helps in some way! Blessings

OpenStudy (one098):

@Alfonso-O I agree with you on saying: Soy un alumno de sexto curso, however I would say 'grado' because it does say 'grade'.

OpenStudy (alfonso-o):

Yes! that's fine indeed! :)
