i'll give a medal Are triangles used for stability? Explain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Any ideas bud??

OpenStudy (coconutjj):

Look at this article: http://www.mathsinthecity.com/sites/most-stable-shape-triangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That doesnt exactly help me find the answer, sorry. Is there a way you can explain it to me in one or two sentences

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i can

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so... before i start to explain, i need to know how much you know on this topic... so do you have any ideas @falloutboi ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not really, i just know that they are. but why are they?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a triangle is the simplest geometrc figure that will not change shape when the lengths of the sides are fixed. In comparison, both the angles and the lengths of a four-sided figure must be fixed for it to retain its shape.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because the triangle does not easily deform and is able to balance the stretching and compressive forces inside the structure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this were both pulled out of this article http://www.mathsinthecity.com/sites/most-stable-shape-triangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for explaning, but fall out boy saved my life. While i respect your opinion, you won't be able to change mine.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol im not trying to, it was a joke XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, okay. I got a little mad there.

OpenStudy (anonymous):
