*An atom has 25 protons, 30 neutrons, and 25 electrons. What is the charge of the atom's nucleus? A. +25 B. +30 C. -25 D. -30 Please explain why you got the answer because I don't get this and I have a test next week about this, thank you! Plz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it's +25 because there is 25 protons and its inside of the nucleus and 25 electrons is negative but it's outside of the nucleus and last the neutrons has no change so I think it's +25. Am I right or wrong, please explain thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is a, because it asks specifically for the nucleus. This means that since the neutrons have zero charge and protons in total have +25 charge, then +25+0=+25 If it was asking for the whole atom, then the charge would be 0 because of the -25 charge of all the electrons. Justsome info for when you have your test :) good luck
