I need help with Algebra. Part A: Use the properties of exponents to explain why 18^1/5 is called the fifth root of 18. Part B: The length of a rectangle is 2 units and its width is √2 unit. Is the area of the rectangle rational or irrational? ----> Irrational because √2 is irrational. Part A: What property refers to roots and fractional powers? How does it apply to 18^1/5? Please don't just give answers.

i can help you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A) 18^(1/5) = 5√18............ (5√ represented here as fifth root) B) Area of rectangle = length x width = 2√2............irrational because √2 is irrational

Can you please help with the other Part A? That's where I'm stuck.

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

so you knew the answer to the first 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

A) 18^(1/5) = 5sqrt18............ (5sqrt represented here as fifth root) B) Area of rectangle = length x width = 2sqrt2............irrational because sqrt2 is irrational as we know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know what property refers to roots and fractional powers?

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

wait......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

maybe @bibby might help
