Think of an activity that you enjoy or are interested in. Some examples are reading, swimming, or leveling up your gaming character. Use your activity to work through the following problems: Create a scenario that leads to an inequality of the form ax + b > c. You can use any of the inequality symbols (>, ≥, <, ≤) in your inequality. For this step, just write the word problem. Write the inequality and show all work to solve the inequality. Graph the solution to your inequality on a number line. Explain what your solution means in the context of the problem. @dtan5457 @mathstudent55 @ajspeller

@ajspeller please help!

someone please help!!!!!!

please help!!!!!! :) @dtan5457

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

how about you think of the activity, and i help you with the inequality

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok! :) @dtan5457

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The activity that i want to do is volleyball ::) @dtan5457

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@dtan5457

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i want to do volleyball :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lets start with step 1 :)

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

ok, well while i don't know much about volleyball. you can pretty much make any inequality to be ax+b>c i can give an example c=total goals b=score started with 9 (because let's say, you want to continue a game) ax=2 points per goal, let's say c=winning score has to be greater than 45 2x+9>45

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok , so what activity do you know about? @dtan5457

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

my example that i just stated will work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so whats the word problem?

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

you can write me and my friends were playing a volley ball match. It was 9-0 in our last game, but we never finished. we will continue from 9-0. (1 point from a one time in game penalty). Each score otherwise is 2 points. to win, you must get a greater score then 45

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok and then whats the inequality. @dtan5457

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

2x+9>45

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok and then i just solve that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@dtan5457

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@dtan5457

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

sure, if they ask you too.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help me graph the solution to the inequality on a number line. @mathstudent55 please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help me graph the solution to the inequality on a number line. @HawkCrimson

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@FibonacciChick666 can you help me graph the solution to the inequality on a number line? please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@HawkCrimson

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@MikeyMaximum

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

set up a scenario first, I recommend two teams playing and one going on a kill streak

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

assign points, and then set up the inequality

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help me do that please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hellooo ? can you help me please? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@GretaKnows can you help me graph the solution to the inequality on a number line? :)

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

well, come up with something then make it fit your criteria

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@GretaKnows

OpenStudy (anonymous):

help!

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

2x+9>45 if you are gonna use my scenario, all you gotta do is solve for x

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

then graphing is relatively easy, just use a open circle > whatever it becomes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry I wasn't by my computer!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@dtan5457

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help me do the graph please :)

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

did you solve for x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

what is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got x > 18

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

good!
