\[5\left[ 3x-4 \right]=x+1\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i need help solving please .
OpenStudy (anonymous):
can you give me the steps please?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
@iGreen @Night-Watcher
OpenStudy (igreen):
First multiply 5 into the parenthesis..
\(5 \times 3x\)
\( 5 \times x + 1\)

\[5\left| 3x-4 \right|=x+1\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
my bad , its not parenthesis .
OpenStudy (igreen):
Okay, we can break this into 2 separate equations:
\(5(3x - 4) = x + 1\)
and
\(5 \times -(3x - 4) = x + 1\)
Can you solve the first one?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
is it 15x-20=x+1?
OpenStudy (igreen):
Yep.

Keep solving it
OpenStudy (anonymous):
do i subtract 20 to both sides?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i mean add 20.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i - x which gave me 14x-20=1 then i + 20 to both sides which left me with 14x=21 . am i correct? @iGreen
OpenStudy (igreen):
Yes..now divide 14 to both sides.

x=1.71
OpenStudy (igreen):
No..check again.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
1.5
OpenStudy (igreen):
Yes, that's correct
OpenStudy (igreen):
Now you have to solve the other one.. @boricua5

OpenStudy (igreen):
\(5(-3x + 4) = x + 1\)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i already have the answer so now im going to solve the other one i posted .
