1. Choose a main character from The Pearl. Write a letter from your chosen character’s point of view to an advice column (Dear Abby, etc.). In your letter, pretend to be your chosen character and ask advice for how the character should handle a problem that he/she is facing in the novel. Your letter should seem like it was actually written by the character, should be 2-3 paragraphs, should include information from the novel to detail the character’s problem, and should infer what the character might be thinking and feeling about his or her personal conflicts. @jonnyboy101
2. Write a response from the advice columnist. You response letter should seem like it was written by a real advice columnist, should be 1-2 paragraphs, should address the problems that the character raised in his/her letter, and should include advice for how to deal with the conflict.

Just write a letter to his wife asking how to heal his child. It should be quite easy. You should also ask whether or not to sell the pearl in your essay.
