the given figure shows a circle with centre at O and angle AOB = 90degrees if the radius of the circle is 40cm and pi is 3.14: calculate the area of the unshaded portion

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

|dw:1421306848918:dw| the empty space above the triangle is shaded

SOMEONE PLZ HELP

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

area of circle = 4024cm and triangle = 800cm?

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

i'm right @butterflydreamer ?

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

area of circle is pi *(40) ^2 = 5028.6 cm^2 Area of the triangle is 1/2* 40* 40 = 800 cm^2

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

wait they want you to use pi = 3.14 so for the area of the circle you would do: 3/14* (40)^2 = 5024 cm^2

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

@butterflydreamer SO SORRY my net had crashed can you still help?

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

not helping

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

you said 5024-800 but in the ans it says 4568

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

hang on

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

hmm no matter how many times i redo it i still get a different answer to that one..

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

is it 3/4 times 3.14 times (10)^2?

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

@ganeshie8 @butterflydreamer @ShadowLegendX PLZ HELP

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

OOKAY,now now can you people help me with other problems?

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

So we are trying to find the area of the figure of which consist of 360 - 90 degrees

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

Which would be 270

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

A wire is used t form a circle with diameter 35mm.The wire is also used in making 5 diameters which divide the circle into 10 equal sectors Find 1. the total length of wire used 2.the area of each sector
