A bit of help please with this question? http://i.imgur.com/7LwClsI.jpg?1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What would be the midpoint of (6,2) (-2,4) ?

OpenStudy (icecreamyummy):

Y=mx+b Y=-1/4+7/2 can I have a metal

OpenStudy (sepeario):

2,3?

OpenStudy (sepeario):

@nelsonjedi

OpenStudy (icecreamyummy):

can I have a metal

OpenStudy (sepeario):

Haha sorry @ICECREAMyummy but your answer is wrong..

OpenStudy (icecreamyummy):

How what grade are you in I am I 8th

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct..Now the origin is represented as (0,0) So waht is the distance from the origin to the midpoint?

OpenStudy (sepeario):

2,3 @nelsonjedi

OpenStudy (sepeario):

I am from Australia in Year 9 @ICECREAMyummy (this year)

OpenStudy (icecreamyummy):

okay sorry I am new here

OpenStudy (sepeario):

@nelsonjedi what do I do from here?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Distance formula for (0,0) to (2,3)

OpenStudy (sepeario):

m = 3/2 and then y = 3/2(x); y = 3x/2?

OpenStudy (sepeario):

@nelsonjedi the answer says 3x-2y = 0 (do I always have to represent it in this from?)

OpenStudy (sepeario):

*form

OpenStudy (sepeario):

@nelsonjedi ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My apologies..was disconnected. Forget about the distance formula as you are looking for the equation of the line. First you need to determine the slope of the line from the origin (0,0) to the mid point (2,3). Do you know how to determine the slope?

OpenStudy (sepeario):

yep @nelsonjedi its 3-0/2-0 = 3/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good now the formula will be (y-y1) = m(x-x1)...m= slope and y1 and x1 you can plug in either of the points on the line (0,0) or (2,3) then solve.

OpenStudy (sepeario):

y - 0 = 3/2(x - 0); y = 3x/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So if y = 3x/2 +0....then y-3x/2 = 0 then multiply EVERYTHING BY 2 AND WHAT DO YOU GET?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

opp sorry for the capital letters

OpenStudy (sepeario):

3x-2y = 0

OpenStudy (sepeario):

Do I always have to represent equations in this form?

OpenStudy (sepeario):

because I could also say 2y=3x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually in the slope intercept formula it would be y=3/2x..you always show a y as y not as 2y.

OpenStudy (sepeario):

ok but the answer says 2y-3x=0 but thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry I thought you had that but I see different ..y-3x/2 + 0 times 2 is 2y-3x=0
