does anyone happen to know any facts about the stamp act or the sugar act?

OpenStudy (wwhitlock):

Both were British attempts to get Americans to pony ups some of the costs associated with defending the colonies from the French. Both were met with opposition from colonists partially because the Brits had long ago stopped taxing colonists individually. Taxes had been raised by Colonial governments elected by the people in each colony. Both lead to the general feeling that North American British citizens were not enjoying the full rights of citizenship that those at home enjoyed.

thanks

OpenStudy (maniacpokemon43):

The Stamp Act differed from the Sugar Act in that it was intended to collect an “internal tax” and not a trade tax.
