Wavelength

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my answer was \[\lambda=\frac{ \lambda _{0}*d }{ (t _{2}-t _{1})*c}\] but the answer is \[\lambda=\frac{ \lambda _{0}*d }{ (t _{2}-t _{1})*c+d}\] I don't understand why there is a "+d"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I used \[n=c/v\] and \[\lambda=\lambda _{0}/n\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

with \[v=\frac{ d }{ t _{2}-t _{1} }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Last assumption wasn't right.

if anyone is interested.

please I call tau_1 the time employed by light to travel from laser to glass slab tau_2 the time employed by light to travel from slab to photocell tau_3 the time employed by light to travel into the glass slab furthermore, I call: x the distance between laser and glass slab; d the thickness of the slab y the distance between the slab and the photocell, please look at my drawing: |dw:1421530988996:dw|
