Which quote from the Declaration of Independence shows that the colonists were influenced by John Locke's idea of a social contract? "That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed." "He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us." "He has refused his assent to laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good." "That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it."

it is the English bill of rights that limited the power of the monarchy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would say C on this one, but I'm not 100%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, the magna carta was a document constituting a fundamental guarantee of rights and privileges... it did not limit the power of the monarchy, it only gave more power to the people

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what is the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The English Bill of Rights is an act that the Parliament of England passed on December 16, 1689. The Bill creates separation of powers, limits the powers of the king and queen, enhances the democratic election and bolsters freedom of speech.
